CAREER OBJECTIVE
To obtain a challenging position in a progressive organization that will utilize my education and experience in the field of BIOCHEMISTRY.
SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATION
A combination of formal education, specialized training and practical application have resulted in excellent qualifications in the field of CHEMISTRY. Possess a strong background in protein isolation, purification and characterization, and analytical methods with facilitate in using HPLC, Chromatofocusing, N-terminal sequencing, Mass Spectroscopy, and SDS-PAGE. Familiar with synthetic organic chemistry techniques such as flash column chromatography, NMR, UV-VIS. Work effectively and independently as part of a cooperative team effort. An enthusiastic, organized and self-disciplined professional.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
BIOCHEMISTRY RESEARCH The University of Toledo, Toledo, OH (12/96-8/98) Isolated and purified the lipoxygenase isoenzymes from soybean seed using chromatofocusing. Performed kinetics study of these iosenzymes. Studied the interactions between the inhibitors and lipoxygenase isoenzymes using Isothermal Titration Calorimetry. Investigated the stoichiometry and the affinity of the binding interactions as well as their thermodynamic properties: enthalpy, entropy and Gibbs free energy. Examined the effect of different buffers on the thermal stability of lipoxygenase isoenzymes in the presence and absence of inhibitors using Differential Scanning Calorimetry.
RESEARCH ASSISTANT The University of Toledo, Toledo, OH (9/96-8/98) Synthesized 3,5-dimethyl-3'-isopropylthyronine (DIMIT)- a non-halogenated thyroid hormone analog.
TEACHING ASSISTANT The University of Toledo, Toledo, OH (6/97-7/98) Taught freshman Chemistry.
LABORATORY SKILLS
Protein isolation, purification and characterization, carbohydrate, sialic acid and oligosaccharide analyses of glycoproteins, investigation of protein disulfide structure using a combination of enzymatic digests, HPLC, MS, N-terminal sequencing and SDS-PAGE. Multistep organic synthesis, characterization of substances using NMR, IR, UV-VIS, and flash column chromatography.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Master of Science, Chemistry (8/98) The University of Toledo, Toledo, OH. Advisor: Dr. Max O. Funk, University Distinguished Professor. Thesis entitle:" The Thermal Stability of the Soybean Lipoxygenase and Its Interactions With Catechols", GPA 3.95/4.00
