Just a little history about Winnie the Pooh.
The story began some time during World War I. Somewhere near the White
River in Ontario, there was a poor female black bear whose mother was killed by a hunter.
She was then sold to Harry Colebourn, a lieutenant at that time, for $20.00.
Since then she was named Winniepeg after Harry's hometown. Not too long after this
Winniepeg was brought to Britain and was formally presented in the Lonndon Zoo in Dec
1919.Winniepeg was very
popular with Christopher Robin, son of author A.A.Milne. Christopher was so fond of
this bear; he spent lot of time to play with Winnie inside the cage!! He even named
his own teddy bear Winnie. Begin from this time, A.A. Milne started writing story
about about his son, Winnie, along with other friends Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger,
Rabbit,...under the title "The 100 Acre Wood". Winnie the Pooh has become
Milne's most popular character, and was brought to life through the drawings of E.H.
Shepard. Winnie the Pooh is ranked second only after Mickey in their porfolio of the
most loveable and trusted characters known by most people in the world.
Winnie the Pooh, the self - proclaimed
" Bear of Little Brain" has entered the heart of millions of people of all ages
from little kids to adults all over the world. Do you think it's true? For me
personally, I do think so!!! Pooh is one of my favorite characters.
